I don't have strong feelings about this change — my first reaction has been one of quiet resignation — but I'll say it's really unnecessary.
Is Apple's fixation with thinness compromising keyboard design?
With the retina MacBook and the Magic Keyboard, Apple is abandoning the classic 'Inverted T' design for the keyboard's arrow keys for a new arrangement that appears arbitrary and does nothing but impact the experience and usability.
